Medical Providers Group: Building community and preventing burnout

Those in the medical field carry a unique and overwhelming load that often leads to feelings of loneliness, anxiety and burnout. Harbor Christian Counseling is excited to be running a group specifically for Medical Providers. The purpose of this group is to provide support and resources to navigate the unique challenges of working in a particularly stressful and demanding field. In a virtual group setting, participants will be provided with burnout prevention strategies, tools to process and navigate second-hand trauma, and practical ways to integrate faith and the gospel not only in serving patients but in building peer support amidst a challenging and competitive work environment.

ABOUT THE GROUP

  • OVERVIEW: Group participants will gain a clearer understanding of burnout, compassion fatigue, and secondary trauma within the medical field, learn and practice practical coping strategies that are realistic within demanding healthcare environments, develop healthier boundaries at work and at home to support long-term sustainability, and process their experiences while integrating faith and vocation alongside peers who understand the unique pressures of medicine.

  • WHO:  Medical providers in Massachusetts, including nurses and physicians, ages 18+. The group will be limited to 6–8 participants in order to provide a safe, confidential, and engaging group experience for all. The group will be led from an integrative Christian counseling perspective, thoughtfully incorporating a biblical worldview around work, rest, suffering, and service. Participants of all faith backgrounds are welcome to join.

  • WHEN:  Thursday evenings, 5:30–6:30 pm (EST), from March 26th through April 30th (six sessions total). For best results, participants are encouraged to attend all six sessions.

  • WHERE:  For accessibility reasons, this group will meet remotely via Zoom for all group sessions.

  • COST:  $50 per group session (total of $300 for full group).
